Roos van Soest, Dutch jewellery artist & product designer from The Hague, most beautiful city behind the dunes.
"My aim is to put more preciousness into objects which makes the items futureproof and survive the ravages of time. Custom made objects for the individual, realised by the best choice of sustainable and luxurious materials. The designs become the new family treasures of the future."
The storytelling and conceptual designs of Roos van Soest (NL, 1975) are detailled, play- and colourful ornaments. The items are a real ‘feast for the eye’, which is an important part of her work.
To give shape to her universe, she uses both traditional and new techniques such as CAD- (computer aided design) and CAM techniques (computer aided manufacturing). The techniques are preferably materialised in precious materials like gold, silver, porcelain and gemstones.
Themes of inspiration have been combinations of nature, architectural buildings, decay and more recently: the world of pleasure like the circus or funfair.
After several exhibitions, national and international, like The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects Collect at the Saatchi Gallery in London and SOFA (Chigaco and New York), as well as purchases from musea and private collectors, she started her own label.
